Compendium supplements, read carefully

How we work with research

Compendium is an independent journal about nutraceuticals, dietary supplements and over-the-counter products. We do not sell supplements, we do not take money for reviewing particular brands, and we do not promise health in a capsule.

How we approach a topic

We start with a question rather than a product: what is supposed to change for a person, and how was that measured. Then we look for systematic reviews and randomised trials, checking sample size, duration and who was actually studied. We flag it separately when a result comes from people with a deficiency, because it usually does not transfer to everyone else.

What we will not publish

  • Claims that a supplement cures a disease.
  • Conclusions drawn from one small uncontrolled study.
  • Personal dosing recommendations — that is a clinician's job.
  • Sponsored copy dressed up as editorial writing.

How to read us

Every article ends with its sources. Open them. A headline is always a simplification; a results table is not. If we get something wrong, write to editors@example.com and we will correct the piece and note the correction.
